Feeling Lonely After Baby? Local Support for Moms in the South Bay Area

Once the early days of postpartum pass, many moms find that loneliness or cabin fever can start to creep in. They may feel ready to get out of the house - but aren’t quite sure where to go.

Sometimes…

  • Your friends don’t quite get it (while they mean well, they might be in a different stage of parenthood or life right now)

  • Your partner’s back at work, and you’re home all day

  • Baby doesn’t love the car or its just difficult to get out with all that stuff you need to bring

  • You’re grieving your old identity

  • Hormones are doing a number on your emotions

  • You love your baby… but this is so much harder than you thought

Finding other moms that really get it can make all the difference. Or even just getting out of the house for a little bit and getting some fresh air in a place that is baby friendly.

Local Support for Moms in the South Bay Area

The Bay Area has a growing network of programs designed specifically for new moms - places where you can show up exactly as you are and feel seen.

Here are a few in the South Bay worth checking out:

The Mom Club

FREE in person support group led by me (a perinatal mental health certified therapist) for moms in the first year postpartum. Meets in Campbell and babies are welcome! No long term commitment required.

Las Madres Neighborhood Playgroups

A beloved nonprofit thats been around since 1953 (!!) connecting new moms across the South Bay through neighborhood-based playgroups, events, and parenting workshops. Great for making mom friends.

New Mom School – Silicon Valley

Just opened in Los Gatos! Classes created by specialists to help you feel confident, supported, and not alone. 8 week classes grouped by when your baby was born so you can connect with moms going through the same thing at the same time.

The Nesting Spot

A beautiful, cozy hub offering yoga, lactation support, support groups, and prenatal/postpartum classes. Designed just for moms and babies. All things prenatal in one place.

FIT4MOM Bay Area

Fitness groups for moms at every stage - prenatal, postpartum, toddler-chasing. Includes stroller workouts and chances to connect with other local mamas. Move your body and meet people.

Baby Story-time - Local Libraries

Free story-time just for babies - all around the Bay Area. Various days/times including Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell, Pruneyard, Santa Clara, and more! Let baby engage in a different way of learning while also meeting other moms in your area.

Music Together

Music classes offered at various locations for babies and toddlers. A beautiful way to get baby immersed in music from a young age. Check out the outdoor classes when the weather is nice too!

Moms Weren’t Meant to Do This Alone

Moms need community. It can be scary to get out there and meet new people but know this:
There are moms just like you in the Bay Area feeling the same way and getting out can be extremely helpful in feeling less alone.
